Roy has many years of experience as a Director, D.O.P. and Photographer. He has been directing commercials since 1990 and was a people and fashion photographer for the ten years prior to that. Zetisky studied at the Brooks Institute of Film in Santa Barbara, California and has subsequently filmed and directed numerous commercials, short films and music videos and has photographically illustrated books, magazine covers and fashion spreads.

He has had numerous exhibitions and has won several awards for his work. He most recently won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER at the 2009 MNET VUKA AWARDS for the commercial “CONFLICT DIAMOND”. He has directed commercials for leading brands like Coca Cola, Fanta, Ravensburger, Kelloggs, Vodacom and Caltex, to name a few.

In 2009 Roy's screenplay A TIN OF PAINT was judged by Francis Ford Coppola in the top 10 out of 2600 entries at the Zoetrope festival. The teaser of the film, which is being pitched at Cannes 2010, can be viewed on the Pistoleros site or at www.atinofpaint.com

In 2010, Zetisky was nominated for an Imbongi Award, by the Cape Film Commission, for his contribution to skills development and transformation, via the Pistoleros Mentorship initiative.

Zetisky’s approach to filmmaking is probably best described in his own words: “I am a producer, director, director of photography, cameraman, fashion photographer, documentary photographer, musician & gardener. I guess I wear a lot of caps, so it all depends on how I feel in the morning and who has been kind enough to commission me to use my creative juices. I am happiest when I have one eye looking through a lens, hearing the sound of a 35mm Arri whizzing at 100 frames per second or even experiencing the adrenalin that pumps through your body when you capture that perfect moment in photography. At the end of every shoot day I am as high as a kite, mostly from the joy of creating something beautiful out of nothing.”
